Udupi, Sep 15: SP Dr Borlingaiah has ascertained that Sangeetha and Gaurish, who were found dead near Hoige Thota pond on Thursday September 13, were not murdered.
"Initial post-mortem reports have indicated that there was no foul play. However, investigations are on based on the complaint filed by Gaurish’s family," he said.
"The actual cause will be revealed only after a complete post-mortem report is obtained," said the SP.
It may be recalled that Sangeetha had gone missing on Tuesday September 11, after which her husband Sathish had filed a complaint with the police. On Thursday September 13, her body was found near Hoige Thota pond, along with that of Gaurish whom she had earlier befriended. Gaurish's father Appu in his complaint later alleged that Sangeetha's family had a hand in the death of his son.
Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti led by district convener Jayan Malpe has urged CoD investigation into the case.
He claimed that there were many evidences to prove that it was a case of murder rather than of suicide.
"There are many questions arising as to who tied their hands with wires. It is also said that Gaurish was called to Kuthpady by someone while he was at the gym. In addition, both the cell phones belonging to Gaurish were switched off half an hour after he left the gym," he said.
"To get to the bottom of the matter, it is better if CoD police takes charge," he said.
