Bhatkal, Sep 13: Two unnatural deaths were reported in the taluk on Wednesday September 12. One body was found at sea while another was found hanging in a gowdown.
The body found at Bunder sea was identified as that of Usman Khader Byari (53) while that found hanging from the roof of a godown at Chowtani area was identified as Nagaraj Siddappa Naik (40). The police suspect that both the persons had committed suicide.
Usman was a resident of Gudihittal area in Shirali village. His body was found floating in the sea and was brought to the shore by a coastal security police boat. The local youth shifted the body to Bhatkal government hospital for postmortem. According to his relatives, Usman was said to be mentally unstable and constantly hinted to his wife about drowning himself.
A case has been registered in Bhatkal rural police station and PSI Naveen Kumar Jogi is investigating the case.
According to the locals, Nagaraj Naik originally hailed from Bhadravati but he worked in Bhatkal Chowtani as a labourer and resided at Purvarga.
A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station regarding his death and PSI Prakash Devadiga is investigating the case.
Bhatkal ASP Sudheer Kumar Reddy and CPI Shivprasad visited both the spots.
