Mangalore, Sep 12: Engineers’ Day Celebration- 2012 to mark the 152 birth anniversary of Bharath ratna awardee M Vishveshwaraya, to be held in the Brahmakumaris “Vishwa Shanthi Mandir”,near Ganapathi Temple, Urwa store, Mangalore on Saturday, September 15 at 5.30 pm.
Dr A U Ravishanker will be the chief guest for the function, Dr Basavaraj Rajarushi and Sourabha will be the guests of Honour. B S Balakrishna will preside.
The programme is organized jointly by Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Engineers’ Association and Prajapitha Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, told B S Balakrishna, president of the association in the press meet held on Wednesday, 12th September in the Press Club.
Sir M Visheshwaraya was born on 15th Spetember 1861 at Muddenhalli of Kolar District. He was a pioneer in the field of Engineering. Hence to mark his 152nd Birthday, this programme is held. Their association is mainly by the engineers and they have also Brahmakumaris jointly to oragnise the programme because Brahmakumaris not only give education but also true values of life which is needed in our day to day life, he balakrishna Explained.
This year, Engineers’ Day Honour-2012 will be conferred to C V Kamath, consulting engineer, Mangalore. The technical quiz for polytechnic students was held on September 10 at the KPT Auditorium.
Engineering college stream of technical quiz will be conducted on September 13 at St Joseph Engineering College, in association with Torque, the students Association of Mechanical Engineering, St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor.
“We are living in the glory of M Vishweshwaraya, as he has contributed a lot to the field of engineering. Contributions to the society by the engineers are immense. We cannot imagine life without the engineers. There has been a gradual decline in the quality of the engineers, hence there is need to focus on quality. This occasion renders a great tribute on behalf of the engineers to M Vishweshwaraya”, Balakrishna added.
B Padmanabha Rai and B K Varadaraj were also present on the meet.
