Mumbai, Sep 10: The Canara welfare association celebrated the nativity feast of Mary here at Sacred Heart’s Church, Andheri (East) on Sunday September 9.
As a traditional practice, devotees and kids gathered in front of grotto of Mother Mary, sang hymns and offered flowers.
Fr Baptish Pais, parish priest conducted the prayer service and Fr Cyril D’Souza blessed the new grain.
The festal mass was celebrated by Fr Ivan Gomes. The concelebrants were Fr Baptish Pais, Fr Lawrence Correa, Fr Ronald D’Silva, Fr Donald D’Souza, Fr Gregory Arokyan, Fr Salvadore Serrao and Fr Eddi D’Mello.
After the festal mass, Canara Welfare association continues the celebrations at church hall where Fr Baptish Pais inaugurated the programme by lighting the festive lamp.
Fr Edwin Vaz, senior musician Henry D’Souza, Richard D’Souza, Tony Francis Almeida, president, Glen Rebello, vice president, Pius Fernandes, treasurer along with the secretaries shared the dais.
Children of Fathima sisters home, performed a dance in the cultural programme. The priest blessed the festal vegetarian food.
Tony Francis, president welcomed the gathering, Abraham Clement Lobo compered and Lenny Fernandes, secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
