Mangalore, Sep 7: The national conference on advanced IT, engineering and management organized by the IT section of AIMIT, St Aloysius College was inaugurated on September 6 at 9.30 am in the auditorium of AIMIT by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present.
Dr Narahari, the registrar (evaluation), St Aloysius College was the chief guest. Dr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ, chairman, MBA dept presided over the function. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, Professor Santhosh Rebello, the dean, were present.
Bharathi Pilar, the convener and Kavitha Rajamani, the organizing secretary, were also present on the dais.
Santhosh Rebello welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme of the national conference to the audience. The address by the chief guest, Dr A M Narahari, focused on how to overcome the economic crisis and the type of education system that is needed to promote authentic learning.
Dr A Mariadoss, chairperson of the conference, in his speech, addressed the gathering on various issues regarding research. He mentioned that the research is a common ground and is a challenge for all, especially for talented and bright people.
Fr Denzil Lobo the director of AIMIT spoke of the things that were unthinkable some years back which have become a reality today. He asked the audience to start working on the unthinkable to make it possible in the future.
Quoting Alvin Toffler he said that we need to learn, unlearn and relearn to be literate of the 21st century.
Fr Oswald Mascharenhas delivered the presidential speech. He said that people think in compartmentalized silos, but we need to have systems approach in our thinking. He also briefed on the importance of ethics in thinking and acting.
The proceedings of the national conference were released by the chief guest and the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was presented by Professor Bharathi Pilar in which she conveyed her sincere gratitude to all the hands behind the success of this event. Dezma Fernadis was the master of ceremony.
