Udupi, Aug 28: The custom of offering 'Baagina' to Swarna River which is the lifeline of the city was performed by MLA Raghupathi Bhat here at Siddivinayaka temple, Perampalli on Tuesday August 28 morning.
The programme was organized jointly by the district administration and City Corporation.
Addressing the media persons after offering Baagina, Bhat said that a pavement will be constructed at Siddivinayaka temple for the benefit of the devotees. The proposal was initiated earlier by Late V S Acharya.
Bhat also said that there is a plan of constructing the Parari – Kolalgiri garage cum bridge to Swarna River with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crores under the large scale irrigation project.
Bharathi Chandrashekar, vice-president, Devdas Hebbar, taluk panchayat president, Harikrishna Shivaraya, Vasudev Bhat among others were present.
