Mangalore, Aug 27: A boat on its way back to shore after fishing, lost control as it was hit by huge waves here at Alive Bagilu where the Nethravathi -Gurpur river meets the sea on Sunday August 26 morning.
The boat ‘Harbour Sea’ was owned by Jagadish Bolur of Yojak (India) private limited company. Sources said that the boat lost its control where the river was less deep and as a result fishermen swam safely to the shore.
Ten fishermen from Tamilnadu are said to be the survivors.
It is learnt that the incident is on rise at Alive Bagilu and in this regard local fishermen have given a one week deadline for the concerned officials to take necessary actions as soon as possible. If no measures are taken, a protest will be held, they said.
Due to this issue at Alive Bagilu, many boats have returned back to New Mangalore port, Malpe and Karwar.
The boat is said to damaged completely and measures have been taken to retrieve it.
