Kundapur, Aug 25: The annual celebration of Makkala Sahitya Vedike along with Kannada Sahitya Parishad was held at Gundmiya Ashram here on Thursday August 23.
Neelavara Surendra Adiga, president of Udupi Kannada Sahitya academy, was the main guest and Arpitha Purohit, class 9 student of Kota Viveka Balika high school presided over the programme.
Handwritten books by the young children were inaugurated by KG Vaidya, secretary of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Kundapur. ‘Kanasu’ by Ashwini Prabhu, ‘Savigannada’ by Suvratha Adigar, ‘Deepa’ by Shradda and ‘Vidyadayini’ by Sumangala were some of the works released.
On the occasion, Satyanarayan Upadyaya of Vedavijnana Vidya Peeta honoured Arpitha Purohit.
Young talented children like Keerthi, Sharanya, Sahana, Anjani, Nishmitha, Sudarshan, Prathiksha, Kishore, Sumangala, Aditya, Dravyashree, Vrandha, Rakshita, Sumantha, Shradya, Anirudh, Swathi, Divya, Suvratha Adiga, Mahima, Kishore Hebbar, Ashwini Prabhu, Skanda, Pavithra, Chaitra, Sharanya among others attended a literary discourse on their poems.
Ashwini Prabhu compered and Vrandha Upadyaya delivered the vote of thanks.
Shripathi Helre, headmaster of Kota Viveka Balika School, Ramdev Aithal, Vrandha Upadyaya among others were present.
