Margao: Parvatibai Chowgule College Organizes Konkani Literary Festival

Margao, Aug 24: The Department of Konkani of Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao, Goa organized ‘Srujanotsav-2012’ a weeklong festival of literary creativity for the benefit of students from higher secondary and college section with effect from August 14 to August 20 between 3.30 pm to 5.30pm.

‘Srujanotsav-2012’ was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Hema Naik, Sahitya Academy Award winner in Konkani.  In her key note address she advised students that organizing cultural programs is important but more importantly they should be proud of their mother tongue. 

In the beginning, Hema Naik inaugurated the painting exhibits of Siya Atul Pandit. She also inaugurated the magazine ‘Yuva Times’ which is published by a student of T Y B A Konkani Gauraj Talaulikar. This was followed by a singing competition.

On August 15, a Rangoli Competition, Phulaval (Flower Arrangement) and a traditional dishes cooking competition was organized.

On August 16, Phatashyo and Umalo Kavyachyo were organized. On August 17, Mustayaki, Kavya Sarth and newsletter competitions was organized.

As a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration event of Chowgule College an Inter Higher Secondary Youth Festival “Maha-Srujanotsav” was organised on August 18.

On this day various competitions like singing, Phatashyo, Umalo Kavyacho, Mustayki, Kavya Sarth, Nibandh Lekhan, Rangoli were organised. Saraswati Higher Secondary School of Arts and Commerce, Kavlem Ponda were the overall champions of the Maha - Srujanotsav.

On August 19, the students of college visited noted Konkani writer, Alumni of the college N Shivdas a Sahitya Academy Award Winner in Konkani Literature under the program ‘Meet the Author’.

On August 20, for valedictory program the well known Konkani Singer, lyricist and theatre personality Sharon Mazarello, diva of Goa was the chief guest. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest in the presence of Dr Gunaji Desai, Head, Department of Konkani and Dean of Languages and Principal Dr R VGaonkar.

The parents, students and Hanumant Chopdekar, Rakhi Amonkar were also present for the function.
