Tibetan Torch Relay Reaches Goa Tomorrow

Panaji, Aug 23 (IBNS): The Tibetan “Flame of Truth” initiated by their Parliament-in-Exile Karma Yeshi demanding an ‘independent Tibet’ and accomplishing various demands, will be reaching Goa on Friday.

The relay, which kick started on July 6 from Leh, Shillong and Cochin, will be travelling around the world and culminate on December 10, World Human Rights Day.

Addressing reporters on Thursday, Yeshi said the torch relay, which currently is in its first leg, will enter Goa from Bangalore on Friday.

“The second leg will begin from September 2 covering five continents,” he said.

The Tibetans are armed with a petition to submit to the United Nations urging to discuss the Tibet-based issue on its earlier resolutions passed in 1959, 1961 and 1965.

Their other demands are to send an independent fact-finding delegation to Tibet and to take special responsibility to ensure that basic aspirations of the Tibetans in Tibet are fulfilled.
