Mangalore, Aug 17: As the colours of the day unfolded, the students of Gonzaga School celebrated the 66 Independence day with a unique programme which was witnessed by the dignitaries ,parents, management ,staff and students of Gonzaga school.
The emphatic speech given by the chief guest, the enthused patriotic song sung by the students, and the energetic dance performed by the students reminded the gathering of the supreme sacrifice made by our freedom fighters and left everyone spell bound.
In connection with the 66 Independence Day celebrations, various competitions were conducted, based on the theme Mera Bharath Mahan. Tiny Gonzagians of class I and II participated in drawing competition to show their oneness using different colours highlighting equality of the people of India.
Class III students took part in the quiz competition.The students proved their talents by unfolding their knowledge on the freedom fighters.
As the proverb goes speech is silver, silence is golden, class IV and V expressed their views on the topic ‘National symbols of India’. Students showcased their confidence, expression of thoughts boldly in the extempore competition. A house-wise patriotic singing competition was conducted whereby students participated with all their zeal and patriotic fervor. On the eve of this auspicious day, winners were awarded with certificates.
The chief guest of the day was Vinod Aranha, an architect and specialist in designing eco -friendly houses. Other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Elvis Lewis SJ, manager, Gonzaga School and the principal of St Aloysius PU college who presided over the function, Dr Ganesh Amin Kannada lecturer of St Aloysius P U college and the principal Grace Noronha.
