Mangalore, Aug 11: St Agnes College in honor of SR Ranganathan held an exhibition on rare book collections. It was held at the conference hall on Saturday August 11.
SR Ranganathan day also known as librarian’s day was inaugurated by Anand K, assistant vice president of Udayavani media network.
Dr Sr Prem D’Souza, principal of the college presided over the function.
The books are found rarely and mostly belonging to pre independence regime.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand said that he was honored to attend the exhibition and witness rare collections of books. He compared a library to a brain of vast knowledge. He said that books should be given more value as they are a treasure of knowledge.
Sr Prem D’Souza said, books not only provide us with useful information but also makes one to think on the subject. She asked everyone to utilize books to the best extent and congratulated the organizers for holding such a unique exhibition.
Dr Vishala BK, librarian welcomed and gave a brief introduction on the collection of books.
Kavitha compered and Saraswathi proposed vote of thanks.
Sr Mariakripa, local manager, Sr Jeswina, Sr Marie Evelyn among others were present.
