Kasargod, Aug 11: Burglars gained entry into Sri Mahavishnu Temple of Nellithattu, Adhoor Pandi and escaped with valuables worth in lakhs on Friday August 10. However the incident came to light only on the morning of August 11.
It is learnt that the robbers got into the temple by breaking the lock of the main door. They took away valuables from the sanctuary, an idol of Sri Mahavishnu, gold chain put on the idol, silver crown, ‘punchaloha’ idol and other silver ornaments.
In addition, the burglars stole cash from the four donation boxes in the temple. Murulidhar Sharma, temple priest left the premises at 8 pm after offering prayers. The theft came to light only when he came for prayers in the morning.
Confirmed reports stated that the temple is located in an isolated place. One has to walk to reach the temple as it is inaccessible by vehicles.
Adhor police personnel, finger print experts and canine squad reached the spot and accordingly a case has been registered.
