Kundapur: Seminar on Effective Translation Held at Bhandarkars’ College

Kundapur, Aug 10: A seminar on ‘Indian literature in English translation-The present scenario’ was organized by the English department of Bhandarkars’ College Kundapura in collaboration with Association of English Teachers, Mangalore University at Bhandarkars’ College here.

Dr H Shantharam, administrative officer of Academy General Education, Manipal inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp. “By effective translation we know the speciality and beauty of different cultures and languages. People can understand about other culture and languages only if it is translated to English”, he said.

Dr Krishnakutty, visiting professor of English, Sanskrit University, Kaladi, Kerala rendered key note address and spoke at length about ‘Linguistics cultural and political issues of translation’.

Chandrashekar Doma, principal of Bhandarkars’ College, Kundapur and Vincent Alva, president of Association of English Teachers of Mangalore University were present.

Dr Parvathi Aithal, convener of this seminar rendered and welcomed the guests. Shashank Pael proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Rohini H B.
