Sydney: MCAS Completes Five Years, Stanley D’Cruz Re-elected President

Media Release

Sydney, Aug 4:
The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Sydney (MCAS) will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a series of events in Sydney during this year.

This was informed by MCAS president Stanley D'Cruz at a recent annual general meeting (AGM) of the association in Sydney.

During the AGM Stanley thanked all past office bearers, executive committee members and MCAS members and friends for their steadfast support and co-operation in achieving this milestone. Stanley informed that MCAS has made an excellent start and more efforts would be put to make MCAS into a strong and effective organization.

A new executive committee was formed, and Stanley was re-elected for a third term as president. He welcomed the new executive committee and commented that the new committee members are youthful, talented and keen to serve the Mangalorean Catholic community in Sydney in its next phase.

Stanley announced that bishop of Mangalore Aloysius P D’Souza would be visiting Sydney this year to celebrate the Nativity Feast, 5th anniversary of MCAS and the post centenary silver jubilee of the Mangalore Diocese.

He also informed that MCAS would organize fundraising to support the charity projects of the jubilee. These projects are mainly to provide housing, education and hostel accommodations to the disadvantaged and poor sections of our community in the Mangalore diocese.

Plans to explore possible joint co-operation in the areas of health, education and religious education/training between the Sydney and Mangalore dioceses were then explained. Efforts will also be made to recognize the contribution of Mangalorean Catholics to Sydney and NSW during the past 45 years by the NSW government.

MCAS is taking this opportunity to appeal to all Mangalorean Catholics in Sydney to make this year into one of co-operation, generosity and good will.
