Mangalore: St Joseph’s High School Silver Jubilee Year Inaugurated

Mangalore, Aug 2: The silver jubilee of St Josephs High School, Kankanady, Mangalore was inaugurated by Sr Lillis, the vice-president of Bethany Educational Society here on August 1.

After lighting the lamp, Sr Lillis along with the students unfurled the jubilee scroll to mark the opening of the jubilee year.

 

Hameed Kandak, chief guest at the occasion, launched the silver jubilee scholarship fund.

In her inaugural speech, Sr Lillis recalled that St Joseph high school, an off shoot of St Josephs primary school established by Raymond Mascarenhas  a century ago, is a great boon especially to the poorer sections of the society. She extended her gratitude to the headmistresses and staff for their committed service during the past twenty-five years.

She called upon the students to have a goal in life and to work hard in order to materialize the goal. She reminded the parents that their children are the greatest gift given to them by God and they should train them to live a value oriented life.

The chief guest who is also chairman of Nawaz group of companies congratulated the school authorities for the service throughout the years for the society especially for girls.  If not for the St Joseph’s high school, many students would not have been able complete their matric exams either.

Sr Shubha the correspondent welcomed the gathering. Fr francis, the resource person for the day addressed the parents. After the prayer dance by the students, a group of twenty-five students sang a jubilee song accompanied with lighted lamps.

Sr Canisia, the general councilor, felicitated the newly elected PTA vice president Shama Acharya and the other executive members and ex vice president Santosh Sequeira. Sr Roshni, the headmistress introduced the resource person.

Reena proposed the vote of thanks and Jyothi compered the programme.
