New Delhi, Aug 1: A nationwide Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims rally was organized by CBCI SC office together with other likeminded Dalit movements at Delhi on Wednesday August 1.
Bishop Neethinathan, CBCI SC office chairman inaugurated the rally at the Jantar Mantar main gate. There were prayers led by both Christian and Muslim communities. Many Bishops, Dalit Christians as well as Muslims took part in the rally demanding their rights which is unlawfully denied for Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims based on religion.
Rally reached the main place at Jantar Manthar at 11 am where the protest program was held. Nearly 3000 people came from all parts of India. Fr Devasagayam, CBCI Officer for SC organized the rally and protest together with other organizations.
UPA government should reply to the Supreme Court on this basis. Protesters accused the UPA government for using delay tactics in this regard. Protesters stated that if their demand is not met then the Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims will organize a nationwide Ratyatra and bring the issue to all the people of the nation.
CBCI office for youth-ICYM also joined this rally. Olima Minz, ICYM national president and Titu Thomas, ICYM national secretary led the part of the rally. Philip ICYM, National Treasurer and Asha Kindo, ICYM national assistant treasurer took part in the rally.
