Bantwal, Aug 1: “Mumbai-based Bharat Co-operative Bank, a multi-state scheduled bank will open its 50th branch at B C Road on Tuesday August 21,” said the Bank’s former chairman and lifetime director Jaya C Suvarna.
He was speaking after inaugurating the preliminary meeting of Board of Directors at Narayana Guru auditorium, B C Road, on Monday July 30.
Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary will inaugurate the 50th branch on Tuesday August 21.
Speaking on the occasion, Suvarna said that Bharat Bank ranks fifth in the nation among co-operative banks. “It has the goal of achieving an annual turn over of Rs 10,000 crore in a few years. They expect to open nearly 5,000 savings bank accounts on the opening day of the 50th branch in B C Road,” said Suvarna.
Former MLA Rukmaya Poojary, All India Billava Federation spokesperson Harikrishna Punaroor also spoke on the occasion.
Bantwal taluk Billawara Sangh president Sesappa Kotian, vice-president Raghav Amin, secretary Girish Poojary, Land Bank president Sanjeev Poojary, entrepreneurs J V Sitaram and Gangadhar Poojary were present.
Bank officer Nityanand Kotian welcomed the gathering. Balakrishna Karkera proposed the vote of thanks.
