Mangalore, Jul 29: A press meet was held by Dakshina Kannada JDS Unit at Woodlands Hotel, here on July 29 to criticize the attack that took place in the Morning Mist Home Stay resort.
Addressing the press, JD(S) state vice president Amarnath Shetty said that Bajrangadal and Hindu Jagrana Vedike should be ashamed of their act. There is no statement given by the MLA’s in the district regarding the attack which shows that they are not interested in welfare of the district, he alleged.
“All wrong things taking place in the district is because of the BJP government and district administration should investigate the incident properly along with DC”, he said. If no action is taken then CM should ban Bajrangdal and Hindu Jagaran Vedike, he added.
MG Heggde, state JDS secretary blamed RSS as the prime accused and said that until the culprits are arrested such incidents will continue. He alleged that CT Ravi, district in-charge is the main strength to all the activists. He also blamed Seemant Kumar Singh, commissioner for his negligence.
Sushil Noronha, JD(S) state vice president, Shashiraj Shetty, district chief secretary, Vasant Poojary, Abdul Masjid, corporator Aziz, Jaya Laxmi, Ratnakar Suvarna among others were present.
AHINDA Press Meet
AHINDA, a federation of backward classes, minorities and Dalit also organized a press meet to condemn the attack witnessed in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, AHINDA president Lolaksha said that he condemns the resort attack.
“The attack is an onslaught on the privacy of individuals and the culprits should be punished for their cruel act”, he added. He alleged that smaller sections of media have crossed the limits and hence are also a part of the cruel act.
Usually, the accused are released on bail, and hence even the government has an equal role in the heinous act. He said that he has no doubt in saying that the ‘state has failed in its law especially in Dakshina Kannada district’.
