Mangalore, Jul 22 (DHNS) : Survey to widen Naguri-Mangalore Junction railway station road too has been done, says DC.
Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda has directed Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar to initiate measures to widen P M Rao road and Sharavu Mahaganapathy temple road.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected Ganapathy High School Road, U P Mallya road, Hotel Vimalesh Junction, Sharavu Ganapathy temple road, K S Rao Road and P M Rao road.
He instructed the corporation officials to begin the process of widening Ganapathi High School (GHS) Road and Sharavu Temple Road immediately.
He directed them to acquire land for road-widening work under the provisions of transferrable development rights (TDR).He also appealed to the public to support the MCC in its development work.
The GHS road is 573 metre long and links Hampankatta. The road is 20 to 25 feet wide. The road would be widened to 50 feet. Sharavu Mahaganapathy Temple road will be widened by 40 feet.
He said that a portion of 31 properties will have to be acquired. It included portions of 10 buildings, compound walls and parking area. The work is likley to commence by next week.
The 360-metre long Naguri-Mangalore Junction Railway Station Road connects railway station with Mahaveera Circle-Padil Road. He said that the 50-metre stretch from Naguri towards railway station will be widened to 60 ft and remaining stretch will be widened by 40 ft.
As many as 11 buildigs/compound walls will have to be acquired for the purpose. A survey has already been carried out for the widening of the road. Executive Engineer Rajashekar, Assistant Executive Engineer K S Linge Gowda, and others were present.
