Shimoga, Jul 22 (DHNS) : State BJP president and Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa has openly acknowledged that the survival of the party’s government is more important than initiating disciplinary action against a few leaders who are making statements in public against the party.
Answering a query at an interaction with reporters on Saturday, he shot back, “Should the government fall?”
He said though the BJP was voted to power, it lacked majority. Such problems would not have arisen had the BJP secured a majority. The BJP is not a divided house like the Congress and JD(S), he said.
“We are still a united party, thanks to the national leaders’ guidance,” he said.
The party’s senior leaders have been able to address a majority of the problems.
However, a few legislators are upset that they have not been given ministerial berths.
In the case of Haladi Srinivas Shetty, he was adamant that his resignation be accepted. Hence, it was accepted. However, he has clearly told that he will not desert the party, Eshwarappa said.
