Moscow/Cairo, Jul 15 (IANS/RIA Novosti): At least 12 people have been killed after an 11-storey building collapsed in Egypt's second-largest city of Alexandria Saturday, Al-Arabiya TV channel reported.
According to Egyptian media, the collapse of the building, which was constructed not long ago in the western part of the city, caused three nearby houses to tumble, as well.
Dozens might be buried under the rubble as one of the crashed buildings housed several families and a large bakery, said witnesses.
At least three people had been pulled out from the rubble and taken to hospital.
Police were searching for the owner of the building, the upper stories of which were most likely constructed without city authorities' permission.
