Mangalore, Jul 6: Two Tulu ‘paad-dhana’ CDs of the veteran Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty were released at Tulu Sahitya Academy hall here on Friday, July 6. The programme was organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.
After releasing the two CDs - 'Shri Madhwaprana Dever’ and ‘Amar Birer Mamanni’ - veteran literary figure and advocate Narayan Poojary addressed the gathering and said that at a time when Tulu poetry, language and folk arts are on the verge of extinction, the contribution of Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty is praiseworthy.
"The younger generation has lost interest in Tulu folk arts. Let the CDs be a catalyst of change and inspire them to become involved in Tulu arts," he said.
He congratulated Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty and requested people to listen to the CDs.
In his presidential address, Umanath Kotian, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, said that the 'paad-dhana describes the life and adventures of legends Koti-Chennayya with a contemporary touch.
He requested fellow Tulu writers to come up with new works regularly so as to make the language and its literature stronger and more vibrant. He assured the Academy's wholehearted support to all Tulu writers and experts in their literary endeavours.
Puthige Padbhanabh Rai, sub-editor of Udayavani introduced the CDs to the audience.
M Sarvotham Anchan, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mangalore also spoke.
Ullas R Shetty, former president, Permude gram panchayat and Gururaj M B, music coordinator were among others present on the dais.
Manjula Shetty compered the programme.
