Mangalore: Illegal Cattle Transportation - Six Arrested, 13 Bulls Seized

Mangalore, Jul 5: Mulky police on Thursday July 5 arrested six persons for alleged illegal transportation of cattle. They also seized 13 bulls.

The arrested were transporting 13 bulls in three vehicles and were caught near Bappanadu check post in Mulky police limits in the wee hours of Thursday July 5.

The arrested are identified as Abbas, Ibrahim, Rajaneesh, Prakash Shetty of Sastan and Narayana of Shiroor and Ramesh of Mandarthi.
 
Mulky police acted on a tip off under the guidance of inspector Sunil Patil and circle inspector Basheer Ahmed. Investigations are on.

    The picture shows the cattle with a piercing of their nose with thick rope. Imagine the pain the animals had in this process.

    It's a very fine line & sensitive issue...can be solved only if Nagesha & Rakesh could look after the old/useless Cow & bulls which is abandon by the owners....I'm sure if these animals are financially beneficial to owners they would never sell it to butchers...

    I don't understand why do people put cart before the horse and come to conclusion thinking these buffalo's are being taken to the slaughter house? First of all these animals are either cattle's or bulls as mentioned by daijiworld reporter. These are simple domesticated buffalo's used for ploughing the paddy fields. This being the monsoon season and the time of paddy transplantation work, most of the coastal farmers have completed this work and its the time for them to sell the animals to those farmers in western ghat area where the transplantation work begins in July/August. By looking at the pictures seeing the shine and health of the animals do you think they are being taken to slaughter house? Doe's the police simply wants a feather on their on cap? As a farmer I can tell this boldly.

    Rakesh Shetty, Satish Hegde, why this lip service?. What are you doing or have done to save the poor cows dying of starvation in Chitradurga and whole of N.Karnataka. The very same guys who claim to worship the holy cow are depriving it of food and water by stealing government money and fodder and making each cow die a slow,painful and horrible death. Is this how you worship and love Go Maatha? What absurd double standards you people have, I am shocked?

    N. Frank, India/Ksa...First you need to check what the law of the Land says...If it says right then it is right & but it cant be right by all means as it is sacred for Hindus. I personally feel that cow slaughtering has to be banned completly in india.

    Could any one of u pls advice what is meant by illegal transportation of cattle. Also pls advice if there is any registration that has to be done if I have a cow at home. Pls anyone who knows advice me as my family is shifting and they have a number of cows also with them. How can they prove its legal.

    Dear Frank KSA, illegal means not having valid permit to transport by motor goods vehicle.There are technical restrictions in transporting and slaughtering cattles(Cruelty against animal protection Act of 1960-provides...over load,offers for sale with out reasonable cause etc etc

    What is illegal in this case? How come BD and RS were not involved this time?? Have they given up on cattle chasing??

    For the information of the public, cow slaughter is legal in Karnataka. I am not aware of any special permits for transportation of cattle.

    In this case all the vehicles involved are "Durgadevi, Gajanana, Anjaneya etc." and majority of the people are hindus. Don't they know that they should protect the "Gomatha"???

    Hundreds of cattle are dying in Chitradurga and adjoining districts due to lack of food and water. The funds meant for goshaalas are been siphoned off by officials. The government is a BJP government. Why is this therefore happening under the rule of a government that wants a ban on cow slaughter? Any answers from Bhajrang dal, Ram sene and the other morons? Why don't they sit in these Go shalaas and save Go maatha?
