Ghaziabad, Jul 3 (IANS): A court here Monday directed the Uttar Pradesh Police to register a fresh first information report (FIR) against two officials and a student of a private university for the murder and alleged ragging of a B.Tech student in 2010.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Piyush Pandey ordered the district police to register a criminal case against SRM University student Siddharth Saini, Dean Manoj Kumar Pandey and manager S. Vishwanathan under penal provisions of murder and destruction of evidence and the anti-ragging law.
Abhishek Saha, a first year B.Tech (Mechanical) student, was allegedly thrown off the fourth floor of his hostel situated within the college campus Aug 15, 2010.
The police had registered a case of ragging and murder against the victim's senior student Saini, Pandey and four unnamed persons.
"It is clear from the some statements that these men not only murdered Abhishek but also removed the blood-stained belt he was wearing and washed the blood stains on the floor with water. The police could not afford to ignore such a crucial evidence," said Khalid Khan, counsel for Abhishek's father.
