Panaji, July 1 (IBNS) The tussle between Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar appears to have intensified, this time on the rampant circulation of fake currency.
Parrikar has accused Chidambaram of not being serious on the issue menace, even as reports confirm fake notes are pumped in from Pakistan into different parts of India.
“Chidambaram told me that it is a state subject when I approached him with the problem. The fake notes are rampantly circulated in the market,” Parrikar said during a function yesterday.
Chidambaram and Parrikar are in the war of words since more than a month back when the latter accused the union minister for unilaterally appointing IPS officers in Goa without taking the state government in confidence.
Parrikar was reportedly upset after Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav was transferred outside Goa without consulting the state government. He had even demanded an apology from Chidambaram saying the Centre should rectify its mistake.
