CPI-M legislator enters Kerala Assembly with grenades

Thiruvananthapuram, June 18 (IBNS): The Kerala Assembly witnessed a bizarre scene on Monday when a senior Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) legislator EP Jayarajan brought two used grenades and presented them in the house while moving an adjournment motion in connection to brutal acts of the police against students.

Alarming the security questions in the house, Jayarajan showed the grenades while speaking on the issue on Monday.

He said the police had behaved brutally against members of Students Federation of India (SFI) and used force against them while they were agitating at an event on Thursday.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was to take part in the event in which the members of the CPI-M affiliated students organization were demonstrating.

Speaker G Karthikeyan said the members cannot carry weapons into the house as it was against the rules of it.

He asked Jayarajan to submit the grenades to the security officials.

The legislator submitted the grenades to the security officials on his directions.
