Athens, Jun 18 (IANS/RIA Novosti): The conservative New Democracy party is leading at the pivotal parliamentary elections in Greece, the interior ministry said Sunday.
Greece's two largest pro-bailout parties, New Democracy and Pasok, won enough seats to forge a parliamentary majority, a projection released by the interior ministry showed.
That result could keep the debt-laden country in the euro zone, according to the projection. The projection showed conservative New Democracy taking 29.5 percent, with the radical leftist Syriza bloc just behind on 27.1.
The Pasok Socialists were seen on 12.3 percent of the vote.
The head of Greece's socialist Pasok party, Evangelos Venizelos, proposed that Greece form a unity government of four top parties that includes the anti-bailout radical left.
