Udupi: Midnight Boat Adventure at Manipal - Two Students Feared Drowned

Udupi, Jun 16: Two students were feared drowned in Manipal lake (palla) in the wee hours of Saturday June 16.
They have been identified as Nikila from Hyderabad and Chandra Mouli from Bangalore. They were students of MIT computer science.
They were among the three students who went on a midnight adventure on a boat, reportedly without the pemission of the boat owner. The boat capsized midway, and all three fell into the water.
While Nikila and Chandra have been feared drowned, the other student who was with them, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, managed to swim back to safety.
Police began search operation at 2 am, but could not carry on due to the weather. On Saturday rescue efforts resumed, but both are yet to be discovered.
A case has been registered in the Manipal police station.
