Mangalore: Biography in Kannada on Msgr Raymond Mascarenhas Released

Mangalore, Jun 15: ‘Hombelaku’, a biography in Kannada on Msgr Raymond Mascarenhas, the founder of Bethany congregation, by Prof Stephen Quadras, was released by Sr Wilberta, the president of Bethany Educational Society (BES) at Bethany Hall, Bendore here on June 15.
Addressing the gathering of teachers, Sr Wilberta congratulated Prof Stephen Quadras for highlighting the endeavours of the luminary. She exhorted the teachers to imbibe the ideals of the great visionary Msgr Mascarenhas in building a new society and exemplify the vision of the founder.
She further said that teachers come across innumerable crisis and conflicts in the class, therefore their response plays a significant role in the life of the children. She motivated the teachers to identify the lost, least and last children and to empower them.
Speaking on the newly-released book, she said the book sheds light on the contribution of Msgr Mascarenhas in the filed of education, to the advancement of Konkani literature and his Gandhian vision of self-reliance of the poor through self employment, as well as his true Christian spirit of reaching out to all categories of people in service.
Provincial superior Sr Mariette felicitated the author. Sr Rose Celine, the secretary of the society, introduced the dignitaries and welcomed the gathering. Sr Assumpta, member of the council of management introduced the author of the book.
Stephen Quadras profusely appreciated the Bethany sisters and Bethany educational society for the vital contribution they make towards the transformation of the society.
Savitha Albuquerque compered the programme. Students of St Raymond’s PU College, Vamanjoor staged a prayer dance.
