Mangalore, June 14: In an attempt to create awareness about the benefits of blood donation and to thank voluntary blood donors for giving this life saving gift, Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital, Mangalore, observed ‘World Blood Donor Day’ by organizing a blood donation camp at KMC Hsopital, Ambedkar Circle, on Thursday June 14.
Leading by example, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP for DK district, inaugurated the social cause by donating blood.
The theme for this year’s World Donor Day was ‘Every blood donor is a hero’ and focused on the idea that everyone can become a hero by donating blood.
While recognizing the silent and unsung heroes who save lives every day through blood donation, the theme also strongly encouraged more people to donate blood voluntarily and regularly.
Members from corporate organizations, the press and media including Daijiworld Media (online and Weekly), Total Oil Ltd, Easy Day, MRPL, Corporation Bank, Ginger Hotel, Mandovi Motors, Aircel, St Aloysius College, Red FM, Canara Youth Council, and many others too were part of the voluntary blood donation camp.
More than 100 people voluntarily donated blood on this day.
