Former High Court Judge Commits Suicide in Lucknow


Lucknow, Jun 14 (IANS): A former judge of the Allahabad High Court at the Lucknow bench, disturbed over the recent death of his son, committed suicide here Thursday, police said.

M.A. Khan, 68, jumped to his death from his fourth-floor flat, they said.

Khan was known for announcing a split judgment in a case of defection by Bahujan Samaj Party legislators some years back, giving breather to the then Samajwadi Party (SP) government.

He became the state's chief information commissioner during the SP government's tenure.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visited Khan's residence and offered his condolences to the bereaved family.

Khan was said to be depressed after the death of his elder son some months back.
