Army Chief Visiting Jammu and Kashmir Friday


Jammu, Jun 14 (IANS): Army chief Gen Bikram Singh will be in Jammu and Kashmir Friday to review the overall security situation, his first visit to any state after assuming office May 31.

Bikram Singh would visit the Northern Command headquarters at Udhampur, around 65 km from Jammu, before flying to Srinagar, sources said.

On Saturday, the army chief would be visiting forward posts in the valley.

He may also call on Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
