World War II Torpedo Found in Ukraine

Kiev, Jun 14 (IANS/RIA Novosti): A World War II-era torpedo - containing 600 kg of explosive - was found off Ukraine's Crimean port of Sevastopol, officials said.

The weapon was found about two km from the shoreline, in the first such discovery since the end of the war in 1945, a city government source said.

Sevastopol saw fierce fighting between Soviet and Axis forces during World War II and the waters around it were littered with munitions.
