Mangalore: BJP Wins MLC Elections in Southwest Constituency

Mangalore, Jun 13: BJP candidate D H Shankaramurthy has won the MLC election for the southwest graduates' constituency by margin of around 2,600 votes, defeating Congress candidate S P Dinesh.
In teachers' constituency, BJP's Ganesh Karnik won by a margin of around 400 votes.
The counting was held in Mysore on Wednesday June 13. Polling for six constituencies (three graduates and three teachers) in the state took place on Sunday June 10.
BJP won four of the six constituencies in the state.
Celebrating the victory at the BJP office here, the party workers burst crackers, distributed sweets and shouted slogans in support of the winning candidates.
Legislative assembly deputy speaker Yogish Bhat and BJP leader Rajgopal Rai congratulated the winners and thanked the voters.
Local BJP leaders like Kishore Kumar and Rajesh Shetty were present.

Udupi, Jun 13: The BJP camp in the district erupted with joy soon after the MLC election results were declared. Celebrations were held at the BJP office, wherein party workers distributed sweets and burst crackers.
Senior BJP leader Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak said that this was the fifth consecutive time that BJP had won the graduates' constituency and the fourth successive victory in teachers' constituency.
Dist BJP president Udaykumar Shetty, local BJP leaders Somashekar Bhat, Kiran Kumar, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Shyamala Kunder, Upendra Nayak, Shyamprasad Kudva and others were present.
