Panaji: Saldanha Given Environment and Forest Portfolio

Panaji, Jun 12: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has been given Environment and Forest portfolios by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Parrikar told said that portfolios were allotted to her after consulting her on her choice. “I have given environment and forest portfolios to her,” he said.

Saldanha was elected unopposed from cortalim constituency in the by election, which was necessitated after demise of her husband, Matanhy Saldanha, who was minister in the Parrikar cabinet.

Her rival candidates – Raymond D’Sa (Congress) and Ramakant Borkar (Independent) had withdrawn from the fray on May 21, the last day of withdrawal for the election scheduled on June 4.
