Riyadh: Twelve Make it to Semi-finals of GVOM Season 3

Riyadh, Jun 12: 'Aangan Konkneche Riyadh' organized the preliminary round of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 3 on recently together with 'Konknecho Dees 2012'. It was a day to remember for the Konkani speaking community of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The morning session of GVOM 3 was inaugurated by the judges of the event Wilfred Maxi D’Souza from Kulsheker, Operation marketing head Khalid Dahfer for custom clearance and transportation since 12 years. His interest is in music, he has written 125 devotional hims (lyrics composing & tuning) and 10 songs. His devotional CD “Somya Makha Bokshi” was released on 2010. Franklin D Costa, a senior systems analyst working for Ejada Solutions and presently, a banking software consultant for Riyad Bank. He has been in Riyadh for the last 13 years .His interests include music, finance and movies. He has done his formal musical education from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music London. Steevan Rodrigues: Mechanical Engineer working as a section head ANABEEB Jubail since 20 years. His interests are in music, drama as well as he sings nonstop baila. and Arun D'Souza Palimar, president of Aangann Konknechem Riyadh by lighting the lamp.
The programme began with a prayer by Ivan Vaz Omzoor and devotional dance to the tune of “Vanditha Vanditha Deva Tuka Vanditha….” by Andria Saldanha Kinnigoli and Kavi.
The president of Aangann Konknechem Riyadh Arun D’ Souza Palimar addressed the gathering and highlighted the objectives and goals of Gulf Voice of Mangalore and Aangann Konknechem. He thanked the audience for their support to Konknecho Dees 2012.
Aangann Konknechem Riyadh celebrated its 5th anniversary by cutting a cake with the entire team.
Royston Prabhu Bejai felicitated all the sponsors. Wilfred D’ Souza Kulsheker, Jeddah felicitated all the winners and participants by giving away certificates and mementoes.
After the preliminary rounds of GVOM3, the winners who entered semi-finals were announced by Wilfred D’Souza Kulsheker, Jeddah.
Manoj Mascarenhas Urwa and Jyothi Renita were adjudged the best singers. Leslie Gonsalves Valencia and Roshen Philip Rodrigues Jeddah jointly came second, while Dolphy Veigas Dammam third, Gerald Rodrigues fourth, Roshen D’Souza fifth and Ambrose Corderio came sixth. In female category, Shalet D’Silva Mangalore was second, Kamala D’Souza Bantwal third, Nirmala Ravi fourth, Princy Pinto fifth and Nathalia Lewis sixth.
All the GVOM 3 singers and dance winners were felicitated by the main sponsor Anil Flossy Albuquerque couple and co-sponsor Kevin Muriel Nazareth. Arun D’ Souza Palimar felicitated the judges.
Semi-final rounds of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore 3’ will be held on September 27 in Riyadh at 8 pm to select Voice of Saudi Arabia. The grand finale will be on October 19 in Doha, Qatar.
Afternoon session of Nach-Gayan-Natkulyancho Meall
Konknecho Dees 2012 started with a children’s dance contest in which budding dancers Michelle Mascarenhas, Megha Riya and Andria Saldanha came first in different category, and Alisha Corderio second, Stevina D’Souza and Namratha third.
The contestants impressed the audience with their dances. Sharon and Shalom Fernandes were at their best. Konkani Dance “Undra Muja Mama” was beautifully performed by Jaison Cardoza, Praveen, Princy Pinto and Kavi.
Praveen Fernandes Dammam enthralled the audience with his melodious voice “Mazar and Beauty Teacher” sung and played with the keyboard. Hindi song 'Chalthe Chalthe' was sung by Shalom Fernandes, Kannada song by Shashidher Haridas and keyboard played by Megha Riya.
Skit ‘Soirik’ and ‘Bailechi Karandai’ were performed by SKY Group Dammam was awesome; The skit ‘Navkar / Donhi’ was staged by AKR.
Royston Prabhu was felicitated by Arun D’Souza, president of AKR for electing President of KWAR. Winners and participants of Konknecho Dees 2012 are awarded with certificate and mementoes. Delicious lunch was served to all.
