Kasargod: Bishop Dr Aloysius Lays Foundation for St Mary’s College Building

Kasargod, Jun 8: Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore laid foundation stone for St Mary’s College building at Bela, here on Friday June 8.
Samaj Ratna Metro Mohammed Haji, chairman, Banathwala Centre for Study and Research, Kanhangad, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Bela parish priest Fr Vincent D'Souza, parish council vice-president David D’Souza, secretary Cyril Crasta, St Mary’s High School head teacher Sr Triza, and new College principal Sr Mariyamma were present on the dais.
In his presidential remarks, the Bishop said, “Every student must get value-based education which prepares them for their future and therefore, all must co-operate with this great project which does the same.”
Welcoming the gathering, Fr Vincent said, "The work has been taken up trusting in the providence of god, the powerful intercession of Mother Mary and the support of parishioners and well wishers."
On this auspicious occasion a short felicitation programme was held in Yatri Hall. Chief guest Metro Mohammed Haji was honoured for his great service to society.
Thirty-three students were also felicitated for securing distinction in SSLC and PUC.
The deanery priests, nuns, architects, students, staff, and parishioners were present on the occasion.

St Mary’s College is the first college of Mangalore Diocese to be set up in Kasaragod district. It was inaugurated last year with the commencement of BCom and BBA courses. The college plans to start BSW, BA HRD, BA English and BSc Maths courses with all the latest facilities in the near future.
