Mangalore, May 21: Vittal Malekudiya, who has been housed in the district jail for his alleged Naxal links, was allowed to write his post graduate semester exams on Monday May 21. He was permitted to write the exam after a fast track court in Puttur gave its consent and university vice chancellor (VC) Prof T C Shivashankarmurthy also gave him permission to do so.
Malekudiya suffered attendance shortage after he was jailed on March 3, 2012 and doubts prevailed about him writing the second semester exams of his mass communication and journalism course.
Though Malekudiya had 80 percent attendance before he was arrested, currently he is facing 75 percent attendance shortage. His lawyer Dinesh Hegde Ulepady had said that Malekudiya can write exams with police protection as the court had so ordered. He will be writing four more exams.
