Mangalore: Scrap Shop Catches Fire at Bunder

Mangalore, May 21: A scrap shop of Ghafur was set ablazed near Bunder, Ansari ground area, around 11 am on Monday, May 21.

The fire brigade rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the fire since it started.  The Ansari ground belongs to Mangalore city corporation.

Narayan who owns the scrap shop, has been asked to leave the place several times by the localities as it intervenes children from playing. They have also logged a complaint to corporator Mamatha Sanil and even corporation commission.

The estimated loss is rupees 10 lac and a case is registered in Bunder police station.

    These shops are running without Licence. They are doing some illegal activities along with scrap business. Adminisration should take immediate action to close all the scrap shop.

    Earlier there were ample cases of beedi leaves cathing fire. Now its time of waste papers to claim 10 Lakh insurance...What an idea Sirjee..

    Concerned trade license dept should cancel the license of such shops or traders who neglect fire safety precautions, they may also effect other buildings because of their silly mistakes.
