Chennai, May 9 (IANS): The state government will prepare a project report for linking Mamallapuram near here with Ennore by road at an outlay of Rs.1,420 crore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said here Wednesday.
Announcing this in the state assembly, Jayalalithaa said: "The government will prepare a project report for the Chennai peripheral road linking Mamallapuram and Ennore via Singaperumal Koil, Sriperumbudur, Thiruvallur,Thamaraipakkam, Periyapalayam and Puduvayal."
She said that under the project, new roads measuring 83.20 km would be laid, while 78.60 km of existing roads would be upgraded.
Jayalalithaa added that the government would set up a road grid whenever an existing road network is upgraded or a new road is laid, so that the area around it could also be developed.
A new four-lane bridge linking Srirangam and Tiruchirapalli would be built along with a small bridge near the approach road at an outlay of Rs.81 crore, she said.
