CBI Court Summons Jaganmohan Reddy

Hyderabad, May 8 (IANS): A special CBI court here Monday summoned YSR Congress party leader and MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to appear before it May 28 in an illegal assets case.

While taking cognizance of the first chargesheet, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court also issued summons to 12 other accused, including the Jaganmohan Reddy's aide Vijay Sai Reddy who was last week released on bail.

The summons were issued on a day when the CBI filed the third chargesheet in the case.

Besides Jaganmohan Reddy and Vijay Sai Reddy, the CBI named Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official G. Venkatrami Reddy, Ramky Group of Companies chairman Ayodhya Reddy, Ramky Pharma and Jagathi Publications owned by the MP, as accused.

The investigating agency charged the accused with corruption, cheating and criminal breach of trust.

The CBI filed the first chargesheet March 31, followed by a second one April 23.

Ramky has been charged with receiving undue favours from Jagan's father and then Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy. The company reportedly invested Rs.10 crore in Jagathi Publications owned by Jagan.

Ramky was allotted land in special economic zones under a quid pro quo arrangement, the CBI said.

The first chargesheet named Jagan, his auditor Vijay Sai Reddy and 10 others as accused.

The CBI filed a case against Jagan and 73 others in August last year following the probe ordered by Andhra Pradesh High Court on a petition by some Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders.

According to CBI, Jagan conspired with his father Rajasekhara Reddy to roll out public assets in the form of mining licences, lands, special economic zones, ports, real estate permissions to unscrupulous investors who pumped in money into his companies on a quid pro quo basis.

YSR, as Rajasekhara Reddy was popularly known, was chief minister from 2004 to Sep 2, 2009, when he died in a helicopter crash.
