New Delhi, May 7 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha Monday had all members in the Lok Sabha thumping their desks in approval when he asked Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee not to keep anything against him if he becomes the country's president.
Participating in the discussion on the Finance Bill, Sinha said: "I am starting with an apology. If after this session the respected finance minister goes to the bigger house (president's house) … Whatever I am saying today he won't keep anything against me."
The whole house thumped the desks as Mukherjee smiled.
Sinha during his speech did repeat a few times that "I am not sure if he would be finance minister in the next session".
There has been speculation about Mukherjee being considered a candidate for the top post.
