Mangalore: DVS Inaugurates Convention of Adya Gowd Brahmans

Mangalore, May 6: "The Adya Gowd Brahmans are not only my voters but have also played a prominent role in my success by volunteering their servcie," said chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda.
He was speaking after inaugurating the day-long convention organized by Kudal Deshasta Adya Gowd Brahman Sangha at C V Nayak Hall here on Sunday May 6.
Yogish Bhat, S R Rangamurthy, K L Rao, Bharath Prabhu, Praveen Darbe, Padmanabh Kottari, Krishna J Palemar, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Nagaraj Shetty, Dr Jayaprakash and Kattanigi Sanjeev Bhat were present on the dais.
The CM also said that he was proud of the Gowd Brahmans community and urged the community members to support their youths and make them strong, independent and responsible individuals.
He made a mention of two prominent personalities of the community, namely, social activist Medha Patkar and Air Force chief Eknath Nayak, who have made the country proud. He also promised to call the community chiefs to his office and take appropriate steps to add their caste in the official sub-caste category.
The programme began with the recitation of devotional shloka by the purohits. The dignitaries were welcomed with bouquets by the committee members.
Introducing the dignitaries, Praveen Darbe said that this day would go down in the golden annals of history as their 'favourite CM' Sadananda Gowda was with them to grace the auspicious occasion.
He also thanked the CM for presenting a good budget, especially for showing generosity towards all the castes, sub-castes and categories and urged him to include their caste in the sub-caste categories for all official purposes.
The traditional lamp was lit by all the dignitaries present on the dais. A fund for the welfare of the community, “Kshema Nidhi” was also inaugurated by the CM and others.
Community members were present in large numbers.
