Bangalore, May 1: Anil Kumar alias G Shridhar, an ITI diploma holder is an electrician by profession. He was sent to jail four years ago on a robbery case.
He was working at an electronic shop in Bangalore, but due to some differences with the owner he had leave the job. After that he found an easy way of making money by robbery.
After a series of robberies in the city, Shridhar was finally caught by the Bangalore police, and was sentenced to jail for three years.
There's more. While in jail, Sridhar met a woman who was also serving prison sentence for a similar robbery case. Archana, who is in her late twenties, robbed a house where she was working as a domestic help. Proven guilty, Archana too was sent to Parappanagraha jail in Bangalore for three years.
What happened then in prison was a 'Jail Love Story'. Shridhar met Archana, they became friends and fell for each other.
The beauty of their relationship was, both decided to give up robbery, and live a decent, happy life together once they get released from jail. They decided to get married.
Shridhar was released first. He wanted to own a house, have some money, and live a good life after marriage.
But old habits died hard. Even after serving jail term for robbery, he could not resist the temptation to make quick money. He felt only robbery could make him rich and afford him a luxurious life with lady love. There still remained six months for Archana's release, and by then he had put his plans into action.
Shridhar was an expert in breaking locks. He hired a small house for Rs 800 a month in an interior part of Bangalore, and won the confidence of his neighbour by acting like a decent man. But when night came, he would look for empty houses to break in and steal jewellery!
Perhaps, he would have survived if he was satified with what he got from his initial thefts. But he became ambitious, and went on robbing one house after another. Basically hailing from Devanahalli, Shridhar used to target houses around Jayanagar, Hosakote, Ramamoorthy Nagara, Devanahalli, and even some houses in Shimoga.
By the time he collected jewellery woth Rs 2.5 crore, he was caught again !
On Monday, Bangalore police organized a jewellery parade, and many people identified the articles stolen from their houses.
Now police officers have decided to keep him away from women's cell, so that he does not fall in love again in jail!
