Floods Hit Homes in Russia

Moscow, Apr 22 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Over 500 homes were flooded in the central Russian region of Ryazan after melting snow caused the river Moksha to overflow, officials said.

At least 1,179 people in the 803-year-old Kadom village were affected by the flooding, the regional emergencies ministry said.

A state of emergency has been declared as flood waters continue to rise.

Earlier this month, hundreds of homes were flooded in central and southern Russia, and emergency officials said some 4,700 towns across the country may face floods in the coming weeks.
