Mangalore: ‘Tulsi Plant Abode of Many Gods’ – Bhaskar Bhat

Mangalore, Apr 21: “Tulsi (holy basil) twigs are holy. Innumerable gods reside in this plant. They purify our minds and environment. Offering them to the deity results in driving away of evil forces and evil thoughts, and an environment of nobility and health pervades,” said Vidwan Panja Bhaskar Bhat, member of Karnataka State Religious Council.
He was delivering lecture on the importance of ‘Koti Namarchane’ programme under way at Lord Gopalakrishna Temple at Shaktinagar here, at the religious meeting organized on Friday April 20 evening at the temple premises. The programme is being held on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of consecration of the deity at this temple.
“Tulsi twigs have the ability appease the deity, and the Lord who gets pleased, showers bounties on the devotees. Everyone who takes part in ‘Koti Namarchane’ will get good fruits. Consumption of Tulsi leaves in a systematic manner improves resistance against diseases. Tulsi also has the power to cleanse environment pollution. Even prostrating before Tulsi plant has enormous benefits,” he continued.
Vedamurty Uleyattaya Vishnu Asra, President of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India, Mangalore Unit, P M Razack, managing trustee of Lord Mahaganapati Temple Urwa Store, Surendra Rao, and IRS officer, Giselle D Mehta, were the chief guests of the religious meeting.
During the day, programmes like Panchamrutabhisheka, mass prayer, Ganapati Havana, Maha puja and Tulabhara, were performed.
Managing trustee of the temple, K C Naik, trustees, Saguna C Naik and Sanjeet Naik, were present. Member of religious council, Prof M B Puranik, who happens to be the working president of Koti Namarchane Samiti, welcomed.
