Mangalore: Congress Corporators Urge DC to Secure Water Resources

Mangalore, Apr 21: A delegation of Congress corporators met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Channappa Gowda on Friday April 20, with a plea to secure water resources to avoid adversities in future.

The delegation, led by former mayors Sasidhar Hegde and Ashraf, Mariamma Thomas, Naveen D’Souza, and others presented a memorandum to the DC, urging the district administration to take early measures in instructing the power plants that are sourcing water from Netravati River to shut down their plants by end of December every year, to instruct MRPL authorities to judiciously use the drinking water that is being supplied to their employees’ quarters, to hand over the charge of a dam that is supplying water to A M R Power Project from December onward till the rains come, to stall the work of building a dam that is underway by Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), and to take possession of all the dams that are feeding water to Thumbe Dam by rivulets located in the foothills of Western Ghats from December onward till rains come.
