Puttur: Thieves Decamp with Valuables Worth Rs 11 lac in Family's Presence

Puttur, Apr 20: Thieves left a family in Polya near Kabaka in the taluk poorer by Rs 11 lac in the early hours on Thursday April 19. They entered a home belonging to Ummer Farooq in the village by breaking open the rear door of the house, and left with a big booty.
The theft has occurred within a gap of three days of a similar theft which occurred a house in Mura in the same village. In that case, the thieves had gained access to valuables and cash totally valued at Rs 2.8 lac.
The thieves stole gold ornaments worth about nine lac rupees, cash amounting to a lac of rupees, and other assets. The total value of the items and cash lost in the present incident has been put at Rs 11 lac.
The astonishing fact is that the theft did not come to the notice of the family members although they were present inside the house when the thieves entered!
The thieves could gain access to valuables without having to sweat it out, as the key of the steel almirah was hanging from its keyhole.
A complaint filed with the policem says that everything that was taken away by unknown thieves belongs to the sister-in-law of Farooq’s elder brother, who lives in Dubai.
Additional district superintendent of police, S A Prabhakar, sniffer dogs, and finger print experts visited the area and collected information. The local police have begun investigation.
