Udupi, Apr 19: “The state government has released Rs 55 lac for developing infrastructure at Kaup beach and the district administration will take an earnest interest in efficiently managing the funds in this regard,” said deputy commissioner Dr M T Reju.
Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday April 18 after inspecting Kaup seashore, DC Dr Reju said that several ideas are being envisioned related to developing infrastructure on the beach.

No Access Road to Kaup Beach So Far!
“The tourists and picnickers who arrive at Kaup beach have to pass through private property which has been a hindrance to developing infrastructure. A meeting with the property owners and Kaup gram panchayat will be held to develop the access road at the first instance that will clear the hurdles to for further development at the beach,” said Dr Reju.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon said that funds were released three years ago to develop Kaup beach as a model to the rest of the beaches in the coastal district. “It was not realized due to lack of will power on part of department officials. There is a necessity to develop various infrastructural facilities including life guard services, security, and safety force,” he said.
